What's New

The live play build is 0.0.87. The newest notes are at the top.

Smoother Play and New Haunt Furniture — 0.0.87

  • The Map window matches the other windows, with clean rounded corners.
  • The Member badge no longer shows on player cards.
  • Tooltips over the bottom buttons sit just above the button.
  • After you press T to throw candy, Esc puts it away without throwing it.
  • Windows and the chat bar are more see-through, so more of the room shows behind them.
  • Ghost names are white in rooms with a dark floor and black in rooms with a light floor, so they no longer disappear into the floor.
  • In Ecto Rush, soul orbs, coffins, and coins are collected the moment they touch your ghost. Wires, bolts, and beams hit the same as before.
  • Ecto Rush scrolls smoothly. The hall, your ghost, and the bolts no longer jump.
  • On a phone, the newspaper, map, mail, casino games, Haunts, and rooms let go of their pictures when you leave them, so a long session is less likely to reload the page. Opening the map again takes a moment longer. Computers are unchanged.
  • The Pizza Parlor has new art: the candles on the walls and on every table burn, and a wood fire crackles inside the pizza oven.
  • The Gray, Orange, and Black Couches, the Grandfather Clock, the Bookshelf, the Woven Rug, and the Bat Garland have new art, so against a side wall or in a corner they sit flat instead of angling into the room.
  • The Halloween Banner sits flat on the side walls and in the corners, and on the right wall its words read the right way.
  • The Fireplace has new art from every side. Against a side wall it sits flat, and in a corner it fits the corner. Its fire still burns.

Haunts on the Map — 0.0.85

  • After a Final Spin revives your Ecto Rush run, no more soul tokens appear. Those spins are already used.
  • The Map has a Haunts page. Click the little neighborhood on the island to see every Haunt you can visit, with a picture, who it belongs to, and how many ghosts are inside. Click one to go there. Your friends' Haunts come first.
  • The fireplace flames flicker and break off like a real fire.
  • Ghosts no longer draw under furniture you pushed back. Whoever is in front is drawn in front.
  • The Layering slider's ends say Front and Back.
  • Map, Mail, and News have new buttons in the corners of the screen, in every look.
  • When a new paper is out, the News button shows the paper folded up with an orange NEW tag. After you read it, it goes back to the front page.
  • The newspaper no longer flashes a gray shape while it loads.
  • The help button in Ecto Rush, Professor Phantasma, and the games shows one clean question mark.

Lighter Game and a Reconnect Button — 0.0.84

  • The Friends button at the bottom of your Friends list is back, so you can return to your friends after viewing who is in the room or who you ignore.
  • New furniture is in the Dead & Furnished catalog.
  • The frosted glass looks the same and the game runs lighter.
  • Busy rooms stutter less when people talk and emote.
  • Connection lost now has a Reconnect button that brings you back.
  • One glitch can no longer freeze the picture while chat keeps going.
  • Phones load lighter art, which should stop most crashes on phones. Computers are unchanged.
  • Room music starts without a hitch and repeats without the tiny pause.

Buying Furniture and Finding Friends — 0.0.83

  • You can buy several copies of a piece of furniture at once. Slide or type how many, and the total shows before you buy.
  • The catalog shows how many of a piece you own, and hovering that number tells you what it means.
  • Clicking a catalog page no longer closes the book. Use the X or click outside it.
  • Wallpaper, floors, doors, and windows have their own tabs in your Haunt Editor's Items.
  • Painted shadows have been cleared, and the Shadows brush is switched off for now.
  • The Layering slider says "At the wall" when a piece is pushed back as far as it can go.
  • The padlock button no longer shows a second white padlock after you close the Haunt Editor.
  • Find Player tells you when a friend is in their Haunt, in your Haunt, or in another ghost's Haunt.

Ectoplasm, Haunts, and a New Loading Screen — 0.0.81

  • Ghost Town has a new look, Ectoplasm: glowing ecto buttons, a glass chat bar, and frosted glass windows. It is the default. If it causes trouble on your computer, tell us.
  • In Settings you can pick Light, Dark, Orange, or Ectoplasm, or one of the three Classic looks. Your pick is remembered.
  • The bottom row is just the buttons: Emotes, Actions, and Candy on the left of the chat bar, and your Player Card, Friends, and More on the right. Status sits inside the bar.
  • More fans out Haunt and Account when you hover or click it.
  • Your Player Card, Friends list, Settings, and the other windows are frosted glass, so whatever walks behind them shows through. If the glass makes the game stutter, tick "My computer sucks" in Settings and the blur turns off.
  • News, Mail, and the Map keep their corners, drawn bigger, and hovering a button shows its name.
  • You have your own Haunt. The Haunt button (under More, or Home on a Classic look) takes you there.
  • Click the house in the corner to decorate: drag furniture, then turn it, mirror it, resize it, or layer it.
  • You can change your wallpaper, floor, door, and window, and choose the background your Haunt stands in.
  • Your Haunt starts as friends only. The padlock opens it to everyone or locks it again.
  • Visit another ghost's Haunt from the Haunt button on their player card. Walk out the front door to open the Map and head back to town.
  • The book in the corner opens Dead & Furnished, where you buy furniture, wallpaper, floors, doors, and windows. Each purchase is one piece, so buy more copies if you want more than one.
  • Grim Realty, the catalog's second tab, is where new Haunts and backgrounds will go on sale.
  • Click the big billboard in the Cemetery to send the team your idea.
  • The loading screen is the Ghost Town logo on a night sky, a thin orange progress line, and a tip while you wait.

A New Charm and the Suggestions Board — 0.0.80

  • A new Charm has been hidden somewhere in Ghost Town.
  • The Suggestions Board is in the game. Click it to send the team your ideas.

Ecto Rush's New Ghost, Professor Phantasma, and Charms — 0.0.74–0.0.78

  • After an Ecto Rush run, Gadgets and Missions & Pay take you back to the workshop without leaving the machine.
  • Your ghost in Ecto Rush is a glowing orb of light in your own color. The brighter you haunt, the longer the comet tail.
  • Spirit coffins show whether Bat Wings or the Gravity Shroud is inside. Opening one clears the traps ahead and lays out a bonus stretch of coins. The ride still takes one hit for you. The Coffin Cart is gone.
  • Night Owl Eyes lock a silver bolt's aim half a second sooner, and the red line goes bold when it locks.
  • The Gold Lantern lays half again as many coins, and the Coffin Charm brings exactly twice the coffins.
  • Head starts are gone. Every meter on the leaderboard is flown.
  • Gadgets, coffins, and the Gravity Shroud have new pictures. The Wisp Shield is a bubble of light around you. A run or a day no longer has a pay cap.
  • Professor Phantasma is in the Afterlife Arcade, once his cabinet is placed. Think of anyone, answer YES, NO, PROBABLY, PROBABLY NOT, or NO IDEA, and a card prints his guess. Stump him twice and he asks who it was, so he learns. No coins in or out.
  • The arcade trophy can show how many minds he has read for each ghost.
  • Charms are in Ghost Town. Click one to pick it up for free. The first Ghost Town Charm has been hidden.
  • A player card no longer stops loading when someone wears an item newer than your copy of the game.
  • In Pool, your cue stays out of the way while a wager or side-bet card is up.
  • If you are watching Ghost Slots and that ghost leaves the machine, you leave too.
  • After five wrong passwords in a row, that ghost name waits a moment before the next try.
  • Remember my password lasts 60 days. After a password reset, your first login with the new password signs out your other saved logins.
  • Chat has a small spam guard: one line every half second.

Ecto Rush Opens — 0.0.73

  • Ecto Rush is a new arcade game in the Afterlife Arcade. Hold to haunt and your ghost rises. Dodge ward wires, silver bolts, and searchlights, grab coins, and ride Bat Wings, the Gravity Shroud, or the Coffin Cart. Every run pays coins, your first run each day pays double, and missions rank you from Wisp to Ghost King.
  • Buy gadgets in the Gadget Workshop, equip two (three from the rank Phantom), and buy head starts.
  • The Afterlife Arcade has a leaderboard for the best distance each ghost has flown.
  • The signpost on the left of The Plaza leads to the cemetery gates, and the Exit sign at the gates leads back to The Plaza.
  • The Casino's shadows have been redrawn.

The Plaza, the Graveyard, and the Pizza Parlor — 0.0.70–0.0.72

  • The Plaza is on the map. From there you can walk to the Graveyard, the Pizza Parlor, and the Afterlife Arcade.
  • The Plaza, the Graveyard, and the Pizza Parlor are open.
  • Snow falls in Town, and a gust of wind crosses the square now and then. Move over the crow and it flaps.
  • Fireflies drift in The Treehouse.
  • Moon Brew's picture has been updated.
  • You can tap or click to walk again in every room, not only the first room you join.
  • The Graveyard has a jukebox: No Penguins!, Nocturnal, Antighost, Afterglow, Feel it, Tonight, Tricks, No Treat!, Trapped, Abyss, Run!, and Humble Night.
  • If Ghost Town is down for maintenance, the notice says so.

Fairer Pool and a Longer Jukebox Line — 0.0.69

  • Pressing Buy twice quickly no longer charges you twice for one item.
  • The jukebox lets you have up to 3 songs waiting, and the line holds 30 songs.
  • Every Pool shot is the real one, and a shot finishes on its own if that player's game stops responding.
  • Two accounts on the same internet connection no longer earn coins or wins by playing Pool against each other.

The Pier, The Treehouse, and BOO! — 0.0.66

  • The Pier and The Treehouse are open.
  • Roulette has a purple Custom chip. Tap it to set any amount up to 100,000, then bet with it. It remembers your amount.
  • Creating a ghost now asks you to confirm you are 18 or older, and the screen tells you if you miss a tick box.
  • BOO! is a new card game for 3 to 12 ghosts at the plank table in The Treehouse. Match the top card by color or symbol. Down to two cards, press BOO! before you play, or anyone can catch you for 2 extra cards.
  • Your ghost sits at the BOO! table with everyone else, and you talk in speech balloons. A round starts when 3 or more ghosts are seated and everyone has pressed Ready. The winner gets 10 coins for every ghost they beat.
  • BOO! can take an optional bet. The table votes, and the winner takes the pot. Nobody can bet more than the poorest ghost at the table has.
  • Ghost Town can show a short announcement across the top of your screen. Tap the X to close it.

Roulette, Ghost Slots, and Bigger Blackjack Pays — 0.0.63

  • Member badge ribbons come sooner. The first is at 6 weeks, then every 6 weeks, and the star is at 6 months.
  • Roulette is an open table in the Casino. When someone presses Spin, everyone else gets 10 seconds. Spectate if you only want to watch.
  • Ghost Slots is in the Casino. Three Golden Ghosts pay 500 times your bet. You can watch another ghost's machine or play your own.
  • Roulette and Slots have a leaderboard, How to Play, and a rules card.
  • A blackjack pays 2 to 1. Win a hand you doubled and you get the double plus an extra 50%.
  • Leave an open blackjack table before the cards are dealt and your bet comes straight back.
  • Clicking a table, slot machine, or notice board opens it when your ghost gets there.
  • Moon Brew has a new look, and the Orange theme's windows, buttons, and map have been updated.

Orange Theme, Active Coins, and Boo-Tique — 0.0.60

  • Settings has an Orange theme: orange windows, the dock, the map, and the menus, with black text.
  • Every 30 minutes of active play pays 250 coins. Walking, chatting, emotes, and games count. Standing idle does not. A +250 pops up when it lands.
  • Your player card shows how many of those coins you earned this session.
  • In your inventory, Face opens Eyes, Mouth, Cheeks, and Face Items.
  • Boo-Tique is open. Items are not for sale there yet.
  • Town, the Casino, the Cemetery, and Moon Brew have a new look.
  • In Pool, the 3-day wait for wagers and side bets is gone. Sinking the 8 too early always ends the game. Scratching while the 8 is your last ball loses the game.

A New Look, Pool Bets, and Faster Blackjack — 0.0.54

  • Pop-ups, buttons, and panels have a new look: rounded windows and satin buttons in dark gray and orange.
  • In Settings, pick the dark gray and orange look or a moonlit blue look. The blue look turns the dock, the map, the emote menu, and speech bubbles blue.
  • In every Yes / No pop-up, Yes is on the left. Alerts such as Connection lost are bright orange.
  • The Player Card, Inventory, Friends, Room Chat, Settings, Pool, Blackjack, the leaderboard, and How to Play match the new look.
  • At Pool and Blackjack, chat shows beside the bar and speech balloons hang over the person talking. An emote button sits next to the table chat.
  • Typing a number in table chat types that number.
  • An open blackjack table finishes each hand as fast as a solo table, and a blackjack pays 3 to 2.
  • The pool table is redrawn. After a scratch, click the felt to place the cue ball, then shoot.
  • When a pool game ends, the table closes right away and tells you who took it.
  • Press Wager at a Pool game to bet your opponent. Spectators can press Side Bet. Accounts on the same internet connection cannot bet with or against each other.
  • Pressing J no longer tells a joke.

Open Blackjack, a Leaderboard, and New Emotes — 0.0.43–0.0.49

  • The mail badge shows how many postcards are still unopened. New accounts find a welcome postcard, and the coins that come with it.
  • The Cemetery postcard has a new painting. When you send a postcard, the reader gets a Go There button.
  • Emotes show in the room chat as a small picture, and new emotes are in the menu. Number keys play emotes.
  • The jukebox, the notice board, and a game close when you go to another room.
  • A jukebox song plays from the beginning and plays through. On a phone, the Music slider changes its volume.
  • After you say yes to Blackjack, choose Solo or Open Table. An open table seats up to 6 ghosts, and anyone else can watch.
  • The Casino has a Leaderboard for Blackjack and Pool. Blackjack ranks by coins won or lost. Pool ranks by games won.
  • Blackjack and Pool have a help button that explains how to play.
  • Candy throw stays off while you are in a game, the jukebox, the notice board, the newspaper, or the mail desk.

Pinch to Zoom — 0.0.42

  • On your phone, pinch with two fingers to zoom the room. Rooms look smoother on a phone.
  • The Music slider turns the jukebox down on a phone.

Rooms, Friends, and the Casino Floor — 0.0.36–0.0.40

  • Where you can walk in the Casino has changed, and your ghost's feet land on the spot you click.
  • Clicking an object with an action walks you to its spot.
  • Other players are where they actually are when you come back to the tab.
  • Rooms load faster the first time you visit, and the room shows up before its music finishes loading.
  • Friends who are online have an orange name.
  • The whole chat log tab opens it. Chat and status bubbles show above names.
  • Yes on the pool table starts the game. Hover tips use black text.

Party Boxes and the Notice Board — 0.0.33–0.0.35

  • The long-running iPhone and iPad problems are resolved.
  • The Casino has new decorations.
  • Party boxes are scattered around town for the Alpha Test Party.
  • The Cemetery has a notice board for plans, changes, and events.

Town's New Art, Status, and the Jukebox Queue — 0.0.28–0.0.30

  • Town has new art. Entering the Cemetery says Cemetery, and the extra Sickness gravestone is gone.
  • A click to walk puts your ghost's feet on that spot. Click the ghost to open their card, not their name.
  • The jukebox queue shows who asked for each song, and preview stops when a song starts so you do not hear both.
  • You can set a status above your ghost, with a timer for how long you expect to be away. Walking, chatting, or Clear takes it down.
  • On iPhone, Login and the password field respond to the first tap, and the Go key submits.

Moon Brew Opens — 0.0.26

  • Your name sits closer under your ghost, and names stay in front of the room.
  • When you watch a pool game and talk, everyone at the table sees your chat.
  • If you leave the game alone for 2 hours, you are disconnected.
  • Jukebox songs follow the Music slider. When one song ends, the next one keeps playing.

The Newspaper and a Shared Jukebox — 0.0.24

  • A room can have a shared jukebox. It starts when someone is in the room, stays in sync for everyone, and stops when the room is empty.
  • Moon Brew's grand opening.

Email Confirm, the Newspaper, and New Emotes — 0.0.23

  • Confirm, reset, and welcome emails use the Ghost Town mail look. The orange Confirm button confirms as soon as the page opens. If that link does not work, use the 6-digit code or ask for a new email.
  • Login says "No ghost with that name" when the name is unknown.
  • The News button is a newspaper with an orange NEW badge until you open the latest issue.
  • Opening News shows the cover, stories inside, and past issues. The line under the masthead is the weekday, the date, and the issue number.
  • A friend-request letter stays fully on screen next to Mail.
  • In the Cemetery, the well and stanchions sort with you: stand in front and you draw in front.
  • E+S sends the skull emote. E+T is a surprise.

Confirm Your Email — 0.0.22

  • Confirming your email opens a page where you press Confirm my email. Opening the link alone does not confirm it.
  • You can confirm with the orange button in the mail, or enter a 6-digit code on the website if the button does nothing.
  • After you ask for a new confirmation email, older links stop working. Use the newest mail.
  • iPhone and iPad should stay in the game instead of reloading as soon as you load in.
  • Dragging a pinned emote to a new slot slides the others out of the way.

Real Accounts, Servers, and Friend Requests — 0.0.20–0.0.21

  • Create a Ghost is one screen: name, color, password, and email, and you are in town. Your ghost changes as you pick a color.
  • Ghost names are checked as you type.
  • Saved ghosts have their own screen. Each card shows your ghost wearing what it wore when you logged out.
  • You can make a real account from the play screen. Confirming your email is optional, and nothing stops you playing while it is unconfirmed.
  • Forgot your password? Ask for a reset link and pick a new one. Saved logins on other devices get signed out.
  • Choose a Server is Ghost Town now. The server is named Phantom, and the friends light glows orange when friends are on it.
  • The Friends list has a Friend Requests tab. Accept or reject from there.
  • An empty mailbox says "You have no mail." New ghosts start with 500 coins and no starter postcard.
  • Ctrl+click an emote to pin it to your own first page. If you have any, the emote menu opens on that page.

The Mail Desk and a Darker Chat Bubble — 0.0.17–0.0.19

  • Mail is the full-screen butcher-block desk. The quill opens a new postcard, the paper plane replies, recycle deletes, and the matchbox removes mail from that sender.
  • Send a Postcard is full-screen too. Friends on the left use the same face as the Friends list.
  • Blue paint tints you blue again.
  • Talk and emote bubbles are a darker gray, with cream text. The emote menu matches them.
  • The emote menu can have more than one page. Orange arrows flip pages.
  • The butcher-block desk is a darker stained wood.

Friends Show Their Faces — 0.0.16

  • Each friend shows their real face in a circle. Offline faces go gray.
  • Find Player, Ignore, and Users in Room use the same orange buttons as the rest of the screen.
  • Every round button and close X is that same orange button.
  • Room Chat's panel matches the Player Card.

Player Card, Mail, and Low Graphics — 0.0.15

  • Hold S to sit and keep facing the mouse.
  • The player card shows your name, your coins, and your ghost. Inventory pulls out from a tab on the right.
  • Coins on the card, coin pop-ups, and postcard prices use a new Ghost Coin.
  • The Friends list shows a glowing ghost next to friends who are online, and Find Player says which room they are in.
  • Mail and postcards are Ghost Town now. Pick a friend, pick a card, and say yes.
  • Chat stays available while Friends, your player card, Settings, the Map, Mail, or Postcards are open.
  • My computer sucks, in Settings, turns off decorative animation so the game still plays on a weaker machine.
  • Pocketed pool balls sit beside the player who owns that group. Finishing a game leaves you in the Casino.

The Map, Mail, and a Longer Pool Glide — 0.0.14

  • Alt+click is always a walk. Alt+clicking a ghost walks you there without opening their player card.
  • The Mail stamp in the top-left opens your postcards again.
  • The Map button is unlocked: a night island in a Ghost Town card. Hover Cemetery or Town, then click to travel.
  • Volume knobs start where you left them, and Settings shows the real build version.
  • Pool balls glide further, and you can pick up the cue from anywhere on screen. Pocketed balls sit on trays by each player.
  • Blackjack chips stack, Reset clears the bet, and dealing with no bet asks for a chip first.
  • Room music is more even, so one room should not sound much louder than another.

Casino Tables, Room Music, and Construction Props

Since 0.0.12, table games and rooms picked up a new look.

  • Blackjack and Pool use a Ghost Town wood cabinet — orange header rail, cream well, pegs, and the HUD close button at 40px.
  • Closing Pool or Blackjack with the X no longer walks your ghost to that click.
  • Launch pass on both tables: wood-and-felt frames, chip/hover buttons, deal animations, pocket sparks, and win/lose banners. Pool balls roll and spin with the shot. BUST uses the prompt window so the word reads.
  • Cemetery music plays in the Cemetery only. Casino, Town, and Welcome stay silent until a track is assigned. New tracks are loudness-matched to Cemetery so the Music slider stays even.
  • Construction props can mark unfinished doors and build spots: small cone, large cone, caution tape, and tape barrier.

Town, Ghost Casino, and HUD Layout — 0.0.10–0.0.12

  • Town is in the game. Walkable ground uses the current mask. Path 1 goes to Ghost Casino, Path 2 goes to Cemetery.
  • Cemetery uses the upscaled painting. The left entrance walks you into Ghost Casino; the casino door walks you back.
  • Pool and Blackjack live inside Ghost Casino, not the Cemetery.
  • Clicking a table while you are already walking cuts that walk and sends you to the table. Candy throw is locked while you play.
  • Blackjack can double down on a two-card hand and split a matching pair.
  • Pool: you are always orange and the other ghost is white. Whose turn it is shows by dimming the waiting player's name.
  • Table games hide the bottom dock. Chat stays available; Chat Log opens a smaller field at the bottom of the log.
  • Every inventory has seven ghost colors: White, Orange, Baby Blue, Pink, Black, Brown, and Purple. Slots use a round cream paint can with a color spill.
  • Sit, wave, and dance are in the right wells again: dance on top, wave in the middle, sit in a 2×2.
  • 0.0.12 keeps Settings and the postcard / mail icon on the saved HUD layout after a production build (0.0.10–0.0.11 fell back to defaults on Netlify).

Blackjack, Pool, Dance, and the Dug Grave — 0.0.4–0.0.9

  • Blackjack: walk up or click the table, bet your coins, beat the dealer to double, push returns the bet. Dealer stands on 17. Leave with X or Esc; if you leave mid-hand the dealer plays it out so your bet is never eaten.
  • Pool is two-player 8-ball. First ghost waits; the second sits and player 1 breaks. Aim, drag back to charge, release to shoot. Call the 8 once your group is clear. Fouls give ball in hand. Winner 100 coins, loser 25. Scratching while shooting the 8-ball loses. Spectate if two ghosts are already playing. X or Esc leaves; quitting mid-game ends it for both with no coin change.
  • Chat stays available while you play Pool or Blackjack.
  • Dirt is piled in front of the Sickness grave, like someone climbed out. Walkable paths around the graves were updated.
  • Tap D to start or restart your dance. Hold D for the sync hint. Syncing while you were still walking now stops you and plays the dance on your screen too.
  • Ghosts in the room are a bit more see-through. Name tags and chat balloons stay solid.
  • Pop-ups (item pickups, confirmations, errors, loading) use the dark gray Ghost Town style with orange buttons.
  • Room Chat slider is one orange handle — click anywhere on the bar and drag from that point. Version number sits on the Settings card.

Dance Sync, Room Chat, and Movement — 0.0.2–0.0.3

  • Hold D to dance without the loop restarting. Keep holding and a hint appears: click a dancing ghost to match their beat. Anyone else can hold D and click in. Let go of D and the hint goes away; you keep dancing.
  • Syncing matches on everyone’s screen, including the person you joined.
  • Walking into objects is a straight line — you stop in front. Other people now see you stop at the same spot.
  • Room Chat jumps back to the newest messages when you close and open it. Scroll with the mouse wheel, by dragging the list, or with a slider on the right.

Cemetery Music, Settings, and Friends — 0.0.1

  • The graveyard is sharper on big / 4K screens. Cemetery music plays and loops while you’re there.
  • Settings has Master, Music, and Effects volume sliders. Click anywhere on a bar and drag — you don’t have to grab the knob.
  • Friends list is easier to read: smaller name rows, more space around the edges. 0/100 lines up with the buttons. “Your Friends” title isn’t cut off.
  • Your ghost on the player card looks cleaner and less blurry.
  • Click anywhere off the Actions menu to close it, including around the bottom bar.

Room Chat, Emotes, and Sharper UI

Room history is a pull tab on the right edge — click to open Room Chat, click again to close. Chat messages can be up to 96 characters.

The emote picker has a second page. Page 2 adds Skull, Devil, and Laughing. Hovering the picker no longer covers the room.

Speech bubbles are the original rounded balloon again, drawn sharper on large displays. Names, coins, nametags, and login text stay crisp. HUD tooltips are back in dock-button orange with cream text.

Town is Open

Float into the snowy plaza, visit the pumpkin shop and ghost-sign arch, and meet new friends in the cemetery courtyard. Play for free in your browser.
